We showed up!
Saturday March 31, 2007We arrived in New Orleans on that Saturday morning for the first time bringing both mobile units. I can't describe the feeling of being there. One lady said it best: you could just feel the presence of God as soon as you walked near the units.
Do you know what the biggest miracle was that day for these people? The fact that we showed up. From the wonderful pastor and his wife to the many people we were able to serve, they all said the same. "We didn't think you were actually going to come." So many people had made promises to this church and to these people that never followed through. Just us coming encouraged this church in ways that we could never have anticipated. Only God knew the impact that this event would have.
That day we were able to love on 57 medical patients, 16 dental patients and 20 teeth extracted! Cooking for Christ came with us and served 250 meals. The pastor told us as we were picking up that he heard the laughter of children for the first time since the storm.
I once heard someone say that he had a vision that showed him the spirit world. In this vision there were clashes of darkness against light. The only time that darkness ever won was when the light didn't show up. The Bible tells us who wins; that greater is He that is in us, than he that is in the world. All we have to do is believe, and show up. We all should ask the question of ourselves: am I going all the places that God has asked me to go?
